Fall 2010 has been the hunting season

Since September, all my husband has been dreaming and talking about is hunting. Now my 11 year old is ready to start this barbaric ritual of killing a harmless animal. Ok...I am proud that he wants to pick up this fun looking sport, but I'm not sure how Trey will do with sitting in a stand for hours not being able to move waiting for Bambi's dad to walk by (or even his mom).

Thank goodness Trey has one more year before we are letting him do that. We did just buy him his first 22 riffle and he has been practicing with his BB gun prior to his riffle, so he thinks he is ready and I am not.

Good Luck Hollis! The boys and I are done going up north with ya hunting as it's getting way too cold!

Spring is here...

We have been very busy this past month. The kids are busy in school and growing up way to fast. Hollis and I are still working at our jobs and waiting for our next vacation in May.

Baseball season has started with Coach Hollis and Trey playing on the Minor League Tigers. They are practicing twice a week and looking good. I am still the President of Parkway Little League, which has been taking a lot of my time. The first games will be May 2nd.

We decide to remodel our one and only bathroom. We have no floor or sink and pulling out the tub today. We plan on spending all weekend putting up new walls, tub, sink and floor. Wish us luck...

Finally, we are excited to have my in-laws coming to town. The grandparents will be arriving April 18th and we all can't wait to see them.

Massie Family Update

This winter has taken a toll on the family. Colds every other week and the nice flooding in the backyard as the warmer weather sets in has infected the Minnesota Massie's.

Alex and Trey are doing very well in school. Alex loves riding the bus and enjoys his two hours at school. Even though he is only three, he is enrolled in the Early Education program to help him develop into a scrapping young toddler. We are proud of Alex and his achievements and this month is all about the color blue and water colors. We are also proud of Trey and his wealth of new knowledge that his great school provides. Trey still wants to be an astronants and we have been encouraging him all the way.

Hollis and I both still have a job and are not worried about lay-offs---thank goodness. Even though I graduated almost a year ago, I am not looking for a career yet. None to be found with the current economy. I am thinking about going to graduate school and am studying for the GMAT---yucky.

We are planning on some camping trips this year and hope to make the Michigan trip over 4th of July. We miss you all and hope to see you soon.

Space Shuttle Experience

Trey and I went on a once in a lifetime experience to see the last of the night launches of the space shuttle. Trey was also featured on our local news station talking about his experience. We witness history in the making and plan the next adventure to Russia to see the first American Astronaut to launch after 2010.

Trey and Heather Going On Vacation

Trey and I are going to Florida on Nov. 13th to see Kennedy Space Center and the STS-126 space shuttle launch schedule to go on Nov. 14th. We are VERY excited and will be posting more when we return. Heidemarie M. Stefanyshyn-Piper is the astronaut that is taking Trey's school T-shirt with all the students names on it up into space with her. She visits his school often to talk about aeronautics, which Trey is very interested in learning.

Family Update

We have been very busy lately with parties, fall cleaning, cub scouts and everything else that goes on in family life. Trey has started 3rd grade and is enjoying school. He comes home talking about new scientific discoveries and new knowledge. Alex is busy being an almost 3 year old, meaning being very independent and loves the word "No." Hollis and I have been working too much and looking forward to some relaxation time ~ whenever that is.

I know I haven't made any posts in a long time, but I do plan on uploading pictures shortly of our summer camping trips with lots of details. Look forward to them soon and read about our many adventures this summer.

Alex and his many ER visits

Alex had a little Tiki Torch Oil Wednesday, August 6th. I am assuming he thought it was Apple Juice; however, we took him to the ER and found a spot in his lungs. He is on antibiotics for phenomena and is feeling much better. Alex may be our one child that will have many visits to the ER in his childhood.

Trey turned 9 years old August 3rd and we are having a party for him this Saturday. He is excited to see the family and plans to have them watch him swim in our 12-foot-wide pool that is only 3-feet-deep. Hollis, Alex and I bought him an Nintendo DS, which has made his Birthday. I love watching kids get excited opening a present that they do not expect. This gift is one he has been asking for, for the past two years.

Hollis has built a patio for me in our backyard that looks great. I have learned the addiction of planting and need to learn the art of maintaining…hahaha. I love the way it looks, just need to weed :).

I will be adding pictures shortly of our past camping trip to southern MN and Camp Akala (Trey’s Cub Scout camp).

Trey is playing Machine Pitch

Trey has moved up in the Little League games. He is now playing Machine Pitch baseball. We are very proud of his advancement and he has improved a lot since last year. Enjoy the pictures of his first game... The Mariners "Seattle, WA" team. For those of yoy that don't know, Trey was born in Washington and both Hollis & Trey picked the team name they are representing.

Heather Graduated!!!

I finally did it...I graduated from the University of St. Thomas, St. Paul, MN. I have a BA in Business Administration with a concentration in Operations Management. I have no idea what the future holds yet, but I am very proud of myself for finishing my degree while raising my kids, working and of course finding the time for Hollis.

Memorial Day Weekend

We went camping over the Memorial Day weekend at Minneopa State Park, which is 5 miles east of Mankato, MN. We had lots of fun. Here are some pictures and videos of our trip.

February Update

We have had a great start for the New Year. Trey is doing great in school and Alex is talking via sign language and words. Heather is taking 2 classes at the University of St. Thomas with one more class in the summer till graduation. Hollis has picked up some consulting work on top of his current job.

Heather is now the current Vice-President of the Parkway Little League, which Trey will be playing machine-pitch baseball this spring. Heather enjoys volunteering her time towards the future baseball players of MN.

Trey is now a Wolf Cub in Cub Scouts, which Hollis leads and both are learning a great deal of useful talents.

We have a membership to the Children's Science Museum of MN and Trey has learned how to diagnose the Flu and other ailments. He also loves the dinosour exibit.

New Years

We spent New Years at our friends Wedding Reception. It was a lot of fun and we spent the night at the hotel with the kids. Trey got up and sang Jingle Bells in front of at least 50 people who all starting singing along after the second verse. He ended the song with a congratulations to Chris and Mike and their happy marriage. I took the kids swimming at the hotel, which Alex loved almost too much.

Christmas

We had a wonderful Christmas this year. Hollis presented me with a new anniversary ring (10 years of marriage) that I wanted and it is gorgeous. I am very fortunate to have a wonderful husband that I still love deeply. Alex and Trey got lots of great presents that they spend every moment enjoying them. They are very spoiled--thanks to the grandparents!

We hope everyone had a great Christmas and a very happy New Year! We made the mistake this year and forgot our camera. We will upload pictures after my parents send them to us. So look for them soon.

Happy Birthday Alex!

Alex is now 2 years old. We had a great birthday party at Grandma and Grandpa's house. Alex got clothes, building blocks, race track, books, a stuff puppy, and more to come at Thanksgiving. Thank you all!

2nd Grade Update

Trey had his school conference this week. He is doing great in Math, Science, Reading, Gym and Art. Even through he is in 2nd grade, he is doing 3rd grade work. He needs a little more practice with his writing. We are very proud of him.

Trey and Alex had a blast tonight Trick'or'Treating!

They stopped at Grandma and Grandpa's to show off their customes. From our house, they went Trick'or'Treating. Alex kept wanting to eat all the candy he received, but Dad wanted to wait till they got home--YEAH! We ran out of candy, but everyone loved the decorations that Hollis put up (to scare.) Enjoy the pictures!

Pumpkin Patch

Today we took the kids to the pumpkin patch...finally! Grandma and Grandpa came along and brought yummy white chili. We had a lot of fun petting the farm animals and going through the corn maze. Alex stared at the chickens and let a goat lick his hand. Trey picked out a huge pumpkin that he could barely lift. Alex was sitting back enjoying his wagon ride.
